Acts 4:32-5:11
When God used Luke to record the history of the early church he told it like it was; the great the bad and the ugly.
Three Great things:
I. They had a Great Church
Three characteristics of a great church:
- Great Love which is manifested in unity
- Great Power which is evidenced through Preaching and teaching
- Great Grace which is demonstrated through generous giving
II. They were contaminated by a Great Sin
Sin’s two components:
- External Expression: They Lied
- Internal Motives:
a. Self-Promotion
b. Spiritual Prestige
c. Sinful Pride
III. They were gripped with Great Fear
When God dealt with the church six things happened:
- Sin was exposed
- God judged the sin
- The people judged themselves
- The Church was purged
- Precious unity was enjoyed
- The Church was respected
