Acts 16:1-5
Every mature Christian can point to experiences, instruction and influences that have helped to shape and form their spiritual lives.
When Paul selected Timothy to disciple there were three Qualities that Paul identified in his life:
- Desire: He was a growing believer
- Potential: He had a good reputation among the brethren
- Teachable: He was submissive, willing to be led, and taught
Discipleship Basics:
I. Discipleship is Influence
- Influence comes from relationships
- Influence comes from people knowing that you care about them
II. Discipleship is Investment
If we are going to be true to the Great Commission and be serious about discipleship it will be costly.
We must invest:
- Our time
- Our emotions
- Our resources
- Our knowledge and wisdom
- In Our own spiritual growth
III. Discipleship is Intentional, Not Accidental
Intentional Discipleship means we do certain things on purpose:
- Teach them
- Show them
- Trust them
IV. Discipleship is Impact (ACTS)
Four Evidences or outcomes of the Discipleship
- Allegiance
- Conviction
- Transformation
- Service
