Building on the Right Foundation

Acts 1:1-9

Four Essential Foundation Stones:

I. The Church must be built on the person of Jesus Christ

“Many Infallible Proofs”:

1. The testimony of witnesses
2. The record of Scripture
3. The impact on the world
4. The transformation of lives

II. The Church must be built on the promise of the Holy Spirit

John 14:16-27

1. He will be The Comforter
2. He will be permanent
3. His presence is exclusive
4. He will indwell you
5. His presence will bring assurance
6. He will be sent from the Father
7. He will teach you and remind you of the truth
8. He will bring you inner peace

III. The Church must be built by Divine Power

1. Power to transform
2. Power to understand
3. Power to proclaim

IV. The Church must be built with God’s plan

The plan is simple: Begin where you are and go out from there

Our challenge: We must contextualize this plan in our own setting. We need to find ways to connect with people:

• In our church
• In our community
• Around the world
